MARC - Things we do

Things we want to do.......
ARES Many MARC members are also members of the Towns County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) and participate in local and state wide weekly Nets to test enhance our abilities to be ready to provide emergency communications in the event of an emergency. SET MARC has participated in SET (Simulated Emergency Test) in previous years and has ranked very well amongst many other Amateur Radio Clubs in the state. We continue to pursue this activity yearly as it demonstrates  our clubs ability to function with other local and state agencies in the time of an emergency. Field Day Field Day is part educational event, part operating event, part public relations event – and ALL about FUN! Field Day is a friendly contest between Amateur Radio Clubs trying to make the most contacts over a 24 hour period on multiple bands and communication methods. These events are open to the public and usually held in public venues. Fox Hunts Not your typical Fox Hunt! Participants using radio receivers and directional antennas hunt down the hidden transmitter somewhere in their local community. This not only a fun event, but educational in honing your radio and antenna skills.
